Theme: Contemporary Issues

In today's interconnected world, staying informed about the latest developments, trends, and challenges is crucial for navigating the complexities of our society and shaping a better future.

Some of today's critical challenges include climate change's impacts like rising temperatures and extreme weather, along with global health issues such as pandemics like COVID-19. Social justice struggles span racial, gender, LGBTQ+, indigenous, and refugee rights. Technology and privacy concerns, economic inequality, and drug abuse also demand attention.

As Christians, we're called to stewardship and care for creation (Genesis 2:15), advocate for equality with love and compassion (Micah 6:8), offer support to those struggling with substance abuse, embodying Christ's love (Matthew 25:36), and advocate for responsible technology use (Proverbs 22:1). Engaging in dialogue, advocacy, and action, we seek positive societal change, grounded in faith and biblical principles.

Theme: Relationships

Authentic relationships are built deliberately and require sacrifice and commitment. Love is not just a feeling but a decision and a promise, if it were just a feeling there would be no basis for promise to love each other forever. Love does not kill it protects! Love is not blind but it has sight!."1st Corinthians 13:1-13"

Authentic relationships should be built on God's perspective (the Word Of God) not based on personal preferences. Proverbs 24:3-4 "A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through understanding. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables"

Marriage is not primarily about finding the right spouse, but about being the right person. Opposites attract, but like-minded individuals last.

Theme: Unity Is Power

Being united as believers is a robust might that links us in love and our mission. Together, we the SEKUCU MAIN and the entire body of Christ intensify our influence of the Kingdom of Jesus, strengthening each other spiritually, physically and emotionally even supporting one another in fellowship.

In unity we remain steadfast against challenges, gaining momentum from our joint faith. In unity, we radiate the love of GOD to everyone which displays the power of Jesus to transform lives.

Let us embody unity in our Christian livelihood as even GOD himself is unity. This is a key pillar in our faith and an accelerator of our obligation; spreading the gospel to all corners of the world and teaching people of GOD's message of hope and restoration.

Theme: Strength In Faith

In life's trials, our faith stands firm as a pillar of hope, guiding us through darkness.

Psalm 23 assures us of God's constant presence, offering comfort and guidance. Though we face doubts and challenges, they refine our faith like gold in fire. Through community support and prayer, we lift each other's burdens. Romans 8:28 reminds us of God's purpose in all things, even hardship.

Let's hold fast to our faith, knowing it anchors us in turbulent times. Together, let's draw strength from each other and trust in God's promises for the journey ahead.

Theme: Story

Once upon a time, in a small village nestled among rolling hills, there lived a humble farmer named Thomas. Despite facing numerous challenges, Thomas remained steadfast in his faith and unwavering in his commitment to hard work.

One day, as Thomas toiled in his fields under the scorching sun, he encountered a stranger passing through the village. The stranger, sensing Thomas’ fatigue and despair, approached him with a kind smile. "Brother Tom," the stranger said, "do not lose heart, for the Lord is with you always." Thomas was taken aback by the stranger's words, feeling a surge of hope fill his weary heart. As the seasons changed and the harvest approached, Thomas faced unforeseen challenges—a drought threatened to wither his crops, and pests ravaged his fields. Yet, Thomas remained steadfast in prayer, seeking guidance and strength from the teachings of his faith. In the midst of his trials, Tom recalled the words of Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. " With this scripture as his guiding light, Tom persevered, tending to his fields with unwavering faith and determination.

Miraculously, just when all hope seemed lost, dark clouds gathered overhead, and rain poured down upon the parched earth, nourishing Tom's crops and bringing forth a bountiful harvest. Witnessing this divine intervention, Tom fell to his knees in gratitude, praising God for His faithfulness and provision. From that day forward, Tom’s story spread throughout the village, serving as a testament to the power of faith and the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. And though challenges would surely come again, Thomas faced them with unwavering faith, knowing that with God, all things are possible.

Theme: The Importance of Having Abundance in The Ministry

Anybody who has studied the Bible carefully comes to a conclusion that God is a God of abundance. God is not a God of poverty. When God gives anything, He gives it in abundance. For example, when He gives grace, He gives abundant grace. When He give love, He gives abundant love. When He gives provision, He gives abundant provision. God gives abundant peace and truth. He gives beyond our understanding. Even in the Old Testament, God was always seen as a God of abundance. For example, in Jeremiah 33: 6 God says, Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

In the New Testament He says in John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. You can notice that the thief comes to bring poverty, but the Lord Jesus comes to bring life and life in abundant. Let me emphasize that the problems of humanity can only be solved adequately by the provision of the abundance of God. This is because the thief has brought much poverty on humanity through lies and tradition.

The Purpose of abundance

The Bible shows that the supreme goal of God in bringing abundance is to bring glory to Himself. When you read the restoration of Israel into their own land in the book of Jeremiah chapter 33, the LORD eventually was to be glorified by HIS people because of His goodness to them.

Abundance makes us to abound to every good work always. There are two reversible chapters and verses in one book in the Bible which show this very clearly. That is, 2 Corinthians 8:9 and 2 Corinthians 9:8.

In 2 Corinthians 8:9 it says, For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. This shows the purpose of Christ coming on earth. Many people do not understand that Jesus Christ was a rich man while He was on earth. Jesus was very rich when He was on earth with His disciples. He lacked nothing. Jesus even dared to ask His disciples at the end of the ministry,

in Luke 22:35, When I sent you without a bag of money, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, NOTHING. Even the clothes of the Lord Jesus were very expensive, the soldiers at the cross where fighting for them. Even one was so expensive that they could not even divide it. Jesus Christ was buried with the rich by a rich man called Joseph of Arimathea.

Remember, Jesus Christ only became poor on the cross. He did this so that He can take our total poverty. It is by His grace that we, through His poverty, be rich. At the cross Christ took our lack of food, He took our lack of clothes, he took our lack of honour, he took our shame, He took our lack of health, he took our rejection and connected us to the God of abundance. Hallelujah. Brothers and sisters who should meditate on this until it becomes part of our thinking and faith.

In 2 Corinthians 9:8 it says, And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: This is the out working of the grace of the Lord Jesus provided in 2 Corinthians 8:9. This is the purpose of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for His love for us, He became poor, so that you and I be rich. Notice, the Bible does not say, ‘we become rich’, it says, ‘we be rich’. Oh, there is a big difference. Do not miss it.

Terms Definition in Teaching of Abundance

We need to understand the following terms in relation to the teaching of abundance. There are these terms, ‘Poverty’, ‘Riches’, ‘Wealth’ and ‘Prosperity’. When God speaks of provision He uses the terms, Abundance, Riches, Wealth, Success and Prosperity. The opposite is poverty, which is associated with lack, failure and darkness.

Let me try to define each of the terms. If you consider the word ‘enough’ or ‘sufficient’ it can make it easy for you to understand these terms. For example, abundance means more than enough. Sufficient means just enough. Poverty means less than enough. God sometimes could say to Apostle Paul, my grace is sufficient for you.

God could also tell Paul that He could make abundance grace to be available. These are levels of abilities in the ministry. Oh, brethren, let us know the grace of God. Grace means, God’s enablement or God’s unmerited favour, it means a special supply of the Holy Spirits and His power to a person or ministry.

Riches is the Bible normally means money, gold or silver. Wealth the Bible means material things like houses, livestock and household goods. Prosperity means to operate in the purposes, will and plans of God.

Look at these verses and see how these terms are used;

Joshua 1: 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Hence, one can see that being instructed by God and thinking like GOD, makes us to prosper and have good success.

Psalms 1: 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Psalms 1: 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psalms 1: 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. This shows the power of walking in holiness and the stability, fruitfulness and prosperity which follow.

The Land of Abundance

The God of abundance has provided for us abundance. In the Old Testament God gave the children of Israel a promise of a land though Joshua. In the New Testament we have been given a land of promises though Jesus. Oh, holy brethren, this is abundance. Let us see how God raised Joshua and directed Him to guide the Children of Israel to their inheritance.

In Joshua 1: 1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

In Joshua 1: 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, GO OVER THIS JORDAN, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

In Joshua 1: 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. We need to read this verse and understand it fully.

It is the key to abundance. God has given us abundance but we need to step out and step on it. The sole of your foot must step on something every day. There are those words in the middle of verse 2 which says, GO OVER THIS JORDAN. Jordan means death. Death is the weapon of satan. It is the fear which Christ has conquered for us (Heb 2:14). When you are risen with Christ, you have gone over the Jordan. It is under your feet.

Then, go and possess your abundant provision. That means all the promises of God will be ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ because you are in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah. The Joshua of the New Testament is the Lord Jesus Christ, after His death of the Christ, He rose from the dead and He is alive today unto the end of the age. As you follow Him, every promise you shall find in His word, shall be answered EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE more than you can ask or think. He has even given us exceedingly great promises so that we can be partakers of His nature.

See 2 Peter 1: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto US EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We have the Holy Spirit who has freely been given to us to enable us to activate the promises of God.

God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3). God has even given us all the blessings of the Old Testament in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:13-14 says, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM MIGHT COME ON THE GENTILES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

My informed daily confession is that, I have a God of abundance, who has given me abundant great promises in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit is activating them for me and making them real to me as I read and pray in the path of holiness. I have riches, I have wealth, I have prosperity, I have good success. I am daily walking into the land of promises and enlarging my territory in the promised land from Genesis to Revelation. You are greatly blessed, Amen.

Theme: A Christian Defined

A glance at our society and the church today will easily reveal that the greatest problems of our time are not technological, for these we handle fairly well. They are not even political or economic, because the difficulties in these areas, glaring as they may be, are largely derivative. The greatest problems are moral and spiritual, and unless we can make some progress in these realms, we may not even survive. We are having Christians who are living in spiritual bankruptcy, not being able to produce substance out of their Christianity because of so many preoccupations that adds no significant value to spiritual growth.

Who is a Christian

A Christian is someone whose behavior and heart reflects Jesus Christ, who has put faith and trust in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ through His death on the cross and subsequent resurrection. From this definition the term “Christian” is characterized with the following:

1. Follower of Christ- This term was very first used in Antioch to describe the disciples of Jesus after his ascension- Acts 11:26: "And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch."

2. Believer in Jesus' Resurrection-A Christian is one who believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ having confessed and declared by his mouth. - Romans 10:9: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

3. New Creation- A Christian is seen as new creation in Christ, having turned away from their old sinful ways. - 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

4. Living by Love- Love is a defining characteristic of a Christian, as taught by Jesus. - John 13:34-35: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

5. Indwelt by the Holy Spirit- A Christian is one who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who guides and empowers them.- Romans 8:9: "You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ."

6. Commitment to Christ’s Teachings- Following the teachings of Jesus is essential to being a Christian. - 1 John 2:3-6: "We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, 'I know him,' but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did."

Invitation

We are sinners and fall short. However, our will power cannot help us to overcome sin. Only God’s righteousness can. We are called to practice the Christian disciplines to cultivate our spiritual growth. These disciplines lead not to a boring life of restriction and missing out, but to a life of balance, freedom, abundance, and celebration of Christ. A better life. Life to the fullest, as it was meant to be lived

1. Prayer & Fasting:
Prayer is communion with God and the central avenue God uses to transform us. When we pray correctly, we begin to think God’s thoughts. Things that discourage people from prayer include some thinking that only spiritual giants pray a lot. We need to learn how to pray. This is consistent with the Bible as well, as Jesus taught His disciples how to pray (Luke 11:1). Daniel’s prayer in Dan 9:4-19 gives us a better pattern for prayer. Daniel did not use his imagination or wait to see if God was going to audibly talk with him about what he should do. Fasting is the abstaining from food for spiritual purposes. It is meant to be centered on God, be God-initiated and God-ordained.

Fasting helps to reveal some issues in our lives like bitterness and anger. Jesus guides us in Mathew 6:16 on how to fast where he centers on our motives of fasting. Fasting plays a vital role in;

Strengthening Faith and Devotion

Fasting is seen as a way to draw closer to God and strengthen one's faith. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness to prepare for His ministry (Matthew 4:1-2).

Repentance and Humility

Fasting is associated with repentance and seeking God's mercy. The people of Nineveh fasted and wore sackcloth to repent for their sins, and God spared them (Jonah 3:5-10).

Self-Discipline and Control

Fasting can help develop self-discipline and control over one's physical appetites, as seen in Paul's teaching on self-control (1 Corinthians 9:27)

2. Study
There are steps given for study which are repetition, concentration, comprehension and reflection. Repetition helps focus the attention. Concentration focuses the attention on what is studied. Comprehension focuses on the knowledge of truth, and with it learning is accomplished. In studying the Bible, we are not merely amassing information but the goal is to be changed. Instead, learning about God from the Scriptures is transformative.

It should cause us to love Him more by realizing His greatness. - 2 Timothy 2:15: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." - Acts 17:11: "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

Confession

It is a means of healing and transforming the inner spirit. The Discipline of confession helps the believer to grow into “mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). - James 5:16: "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

- 1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Confession is a difficult Discipline for us because we all too often view the believing community as a fellowship of saints before we see it as a fellowship of sinners. But if we know that the people of God are first a fellowship of sinners, we are freed to hear the unconditional call of God’s love and to confess our needs openly before our brothers.

For a good confession three things are necessary:

An examination of conscience -This is a time, “where a soul comes under the gaze of God and where in His silent and loving Presence this soul is pierced to the quick and becomes conscious of the things that must be forgiven and put right before it can continue to love one whose care has been so constant.”

Sorrow -Sorrow as it relates to confession is not primarily an emotion, though emotion may be involved. It is an abhorrence at having committed the sin, a deep regret at having offended the heart of the Father. Sorrow is an issue of the will before it is an issue of the emotions. In fact, being sorrowful in the emotions without a godly sorrow in the will destroys the confession.

A determination to avoid sin -In the Discipline of confession we ask God to give us a yearning for holy living, a hatred for unholy living. It is the will to be delivered from sin that we seek from God as we prepare to make confession. We must desire to be conquered and ruled by God, or if we do not desire it
